De Caboalles de Arriba

From Caboalles de Arriba is my maternal family: Menéndez.
We are rebuilding our memory.
A photo of the house we are looking for presents the purpose of the trip.
We find the house. We knock on the door and a woman opens us, Mercedes. The house is full of portraits of those who lived there.
An old and precious photo album. It is not exactly from my branch of the family, but from those who stayed in the house. There are recognizable faces of distant relatives that resemble those I know.
We only see part of Mercedes’ face and hand, the joy and excitement of receiving seven far relatives of her late husband. I could show the rest of the family knowing their history, but they are not part of what I was going to look for: the space, the town and environment where my surname comes from.
